Following a busy PYO Pumpkin season in 2020, Penkridge’s Lower Drayton Farm has planted a massive 80,000 pumpkin seeds to give this year’s visitors a bumper crop to choose from.
The farm’s PYO Pumpkin Patch will open from Sat 2nd October; every Saturday & Sunday throughout the month then daily from 16th – 31st October. In addition to hunting for their perfect pumpkin visitors will be able to carve them in the dedicated pumpkin carving area to save on mess at home, take a stroll around the woodland walk, meet some friendly animals and watch the kids let of steam in the pumpkin patch play area. There will be a Pumpkin-tastic photo booth to capture fun memories of their visit and there will be the chance to take part in a pumpkin carving competition for a £1 on the day entry fee, with all proceeds going to the farm’s Charity of the Year, The Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity and a great prize up for grabs.
Attraction manager, Sarah Peacock, says:
“Halloween is one of our favourite times of year and the whole team love the PYO Pumpkins event – it’s just great fun! We’ve really gone to town with the pumpkins this year and the patch is massive. There’s already a great range of pumpkins – from massive ones through to cute dinky pumpkins, and lots of colours – traditional orange, green and even white ones so our visitors can get really creative. Whether you choose a tiny pumpkin or a monster it will be covered in your ticket price, with extra pumpkins available to buy on the day – and if you don’t want to carve it you can take it home to make a delicious soup. Wrap up warm, pull on your wellies and join us for a fun day out in the fresh air!”
PYO Pumpkins will run at Lower Drayton Farm every weekend throughout October, then daily from 16th – 31st October. Tickets are £7pp and include one pumpkin (if booked by 31st September just £6pp for dates up to and including 22nd Oct); under 2s go free.
