Staffordshire farm set to ‘unlock summer’ for family fun…

Penkridge’s Lower Drayton Farm is set to unlock the farm gates from Thursday 20th August; offering families the chance to spend a day enjoying its exciting new indoor playbarn and outdoor attractions.

With the public launch coming hot on the heels of a successful preview day, the farm will offer families the chance to get the kids out in the countryside during the school holidays.

Taking place daily from Thursday 20th August – Tuesday, 2nd September, ‘Summer Unlocked’ will present a host of outdoor and open-barn play activities, with the chance to meet friendly animals and learn about what’s happening down on the farm during the summer months. Following the recent Government announcement that soft place centres can reopen, visitors will also have the chance to experience the farm’s huge new indoor play barn. Farmer Richard Bower, who runs the farm – and the new attraction – alongside father Ray and his partner Val, says:

“At the beginning of the year, we were aiming to launch our full new farm attraction to the public at the start of the school summer holidays – however, the COVID-19 crisis and lockdown meant that plans had to be put on hold. We have, however, been busy behind the scenes putting the finishing touches to the attraction and making the site COVID-secure. We learnt a lot from our preview day, have made some tweaks and we’re now ready to open, in-line with Government guidelines, and welcome visitors back to the farm.

“We’ve really missed the vibrancy and energy visiting families bring to the farm and can’t wait to welcome them back to have lots of fun while learning about farming and its role in food and energy production.”

During their visit, in addition to the new indoor play barn, families will enjoy new additions to the outdoor play area including sand play, the ‘Farm-ula One’ go-kart track, mini ride-on tractors, and a Maize trail, with lots of friendly animals to meet, too.

‘Summer Unlocked’ at Lower Drayton Farm will take place daily from Thursday 20th August to Tuesday 2nd September 2020. With numbers strictly limited for sessions due to COVID-19 guidelines, advance booking is essential. For more information and to book, head to
