We’re celebrating 10 years of growing pumpkins at Lower Drayton Farm with a fresh look for our pumpkin picking event. From Saturday 26 September, you can head into the fields near Penkridge, grab a wheelbarrow and choose pumpkins from the patch where they grew.
There’s more to pick this year, too. Alongside pumpkins of all shapes and sizes, you can choose a ticket that lets you fill a small or large bag with farm-fresh vegetables, including potatoes, beetroot, parsnips and carrots.
Pick, carve and enjoy autumn on the farm
Our new indoor carving barn means you can turn your freshly picked pumpkin into a Halloween creation while you’re here, then leave the mess with us. The barn is also home to Pumpkin Village, and we’ve added new autumn photo spots around the event.
Daytime pumpkin picking is open on 26–27 September, 3–4 October, 10–11 October and daily from 17–31 October 2026. Tickets start at £6 per person for entry, with other options that include a pumpkin or a bag to fill with vegetables.
Visiting during the school holidays? From Saturday 24 October, your Pumpkins ticket also includes family-friendly activities such as Witch School, pumpkin games and bouncy pillows, alongside pumpkin picking, carving and seasonal photo opportunities.
Pumpkins After Dark and our Halloween Pupkin Patch
On Fridays 16, 23 and 30 October, our Pumpkins After Dark evenings run from 5pm to 10pm. Pick and carve a pumpkin after sunset, then enjoy fairground rides, hot food, s’mores, doughnuts, a licensed bar and live entertainment. The Definitely Maybe’s perform their Oasis tribute on 16 October, TJDJ joins us on 23 October, and Charl Watson Music and Beth Tudor perform on 30 October. These evenings are open to families and grown-up groups alike.
On Saturday 31 October, dogs can join the autumn outing for our special Pupkin Patch day. This is the only date dogs are welcome at the Pumpkins event, so bring your pooch for a countryside walk and a pumpkin patch photo.
Farmer Richard Bower, who runs Lower Drayton Farm with his father Ray, says:
“This year marks 10 years since we grew our first pumpkin crop, so it felt like the perfect time to give the event a refresh. We wanted to bring it back to what we’re all about as a working farm – getting people out into the fields, closer to where their food is grown and enjoying the countryside.
“As well as picking pumpkins straight from the patch, visitors can choose to pick a fantastic range of farm-fresh vegetables too. With our new indoor carving barn giving us more scope for activities whatever the weather, we’re excited to celebrate everything that’s great about autumn on the farm.”
Plan your visit to our Staffordshire pumpkin patch
Lower Drayton Farm is near Penkridge and Stafford, around one mile from M6 Junction 13. That makes our pumpkin patch an autumn day out for visitors travelling from across Staffordshire and the West Midlands, including Stoke-on-Trent, Wolverhampton, Walsall, Birmingham and Telford.
Pumpkins @ Lower Drayton Farm is a standalone event, so PLAY@ admission is not included. You’re welcome to visit for pumpkin picking without booking the play attraction, whether you’re bringing children or planning an autumn outing with friends. You can ask about upgrading to PLAY@ on the day, subject to availability.
