Kids that enjoy spooky stuff will LOVE a visit to Penkridge’s Lower Drayton Farm’s PYO Pumpkins event this October – with a new (trick or) treat in store for over 10s!
While the farm’s huge, 20-acre pumpkin patch event is suitable for all ages, a creepy new addition – the Spooky Trail – launched last weekend, with scare-loving tweens firmly in mind, as Farmer Richard Bower explains:
“We attract lots of families with kids of all ages to our PYO Pumpkins event – as well as plenty of adults without little ones in tow. For the younger family members, the whole experience of picking and carving the pumpkin then having a play on the play area and meeting friendly animals offers them plenty to do. However, we wanted to do something specifically for the older siblings – and a fun yet spooky trail seemed perfect.”
Offering a spooky – yet fun – experience suitable for ages 10 – adult, the trail will see visitors wind their way around three different ‘scary zones’ with the possibility of bumping into some rather creepy characters along the way.
Elsewhere during the PYO Pumpkins experience, visitors will enjoy exploring the huge pumpkin patch to find their perfect pumpkin from over 125,000 planted before trundling it back to the carving tent in a wheelbarrow and getting creative on site (avoiding any mess at home). A series of ‘scary’ photo booths provide a backdrop for capturing picture-perfect memories, while an outdoor play area is great for letting little ones let off steam. There are friendly animals to meet, you can pick fresh carrots, potatoes and sweetcorn to take home and cook. A pop-up café serves seasonal treats like fresh pumpkin soup, while vending machines will offer Taste the Milk milkshakes with milk from The Wright Family Dairy’s Jersey herd in Tixall.
Having launched last weekend, PYO Pumpkins is open daily through to 31st October. Tickets are £9pp online* (including pumpkin) with a £2.50pp upgrade to complete the Spooky Trail on weekends and throughout half term – for more details and to book head to:https://lowerdraytonfarm.co.uk/pumpkins
